How to Apply
As of 2018, Northumberland CFDC is moving to accept submissions to all of our programs (including N100) via a general web-based application form, powered by Reviewr. You may start your application by clicking the link below and following instructions. Be sure to select N100 from the program application check list. You may also simultaneously apply to other Northumberland CFDC programs (such as the Venture13 VentureZone) depending on your interest and eligibility, and whether other CFDC programs are currently available. All N100 program information is available at www.n100.ca and at www.financingandstrategy.com for all other Northumberland CFDC initiatives.
Please also bear in mind the evaluation criteria for N100. When, in the general client application form you are asked to justify why your application fits the strategic objectives and qualifications of the N100 Startup Competition (N100 Evolution), please be sure to hit on the following equally weighted considerations:
- Technology and innovation-driven core competitive advantage.
- Business viability and scalability with large, addressable markets.
- Strength of Founder team (track record, leadership and ability to get things done).
- Potential for presence and economic impact in Northumberland (such as job creation).
In the general application form, you will also be asked about the “project”. This is a generic term for the specific details of a proposed collaboration with Northumberland CFDC, and for N100 applicants, when we say “project” we’re talking about what you would do if you won a share of—or indeed won all of—the available $250,000 in N100 convertible debt. Please set out the next major milestones for your company and how much capital you need to achieve each of those milestones (how much they will cost). In other words, what are the “use of proceeds” for Northumberland CFDC’s investment in your company? The project could describe your current “round”, the investment you are seeking for the next major phase of your development.
We estimate that you should be able to complete the application in anywhere from 30 minutes to three hours, depending on the complexity and detail of your responses, and the number of drafts you may generate. You can save and logout and come back to your draft submission later before formally submitting. After submitting, you can continue to edit until the deadline of 11:59 PM EST on Friday July 13, 2018.
If you have any questions about the evaluation criteria or the N100 Rules, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Applications for N100 2018 are now closed.
The next biennial edition of N100 starts up again in 2020.
