What is N100?
Northumberland, Ontario, Canada’s annual open invitational and biennial $250,000 technology startup competition.
New this year: we’ve taken the competition from $100,000 to $250,000. We’re officially biennial. N100 is at Venture13 in Cobourg. CCO Productions is sponsoring a $2,500 N100 Audience Choice – Best Pitch Award. And the intrepid Ji Ke from HAX has joined our corps of N100 Advisors.
Call goes out May 17. Apply by July 13. Top 8 Semi-Finalists compete in the N100 Pitch Contest September 13. Top 3 Finalists present investment proposals October 17. Winner(s) announced in November.

Contact John Hayden about N100
John is a member of the Canadian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (CVCA) and holds an Executive Certificate in Strategy & Innovation from MIT, where he participated in the Entrepreneurship Development Program in 2013. He holds a BA from the University of Toronto and a MA from the American University of Beirut. John was instrumental in devising and launching N100 and has judged other startup competitions including the Ontario Centres of Excellence Make Your Pitch student entrepreneurship challenge.
He currently works with over 30 early-stage companies across Southern Ontario as a Venture Catalyst with Northumberland CFDC’s N1M initiative (supported by FedDev Ontario) and was part of the Committee of the Town of Cobourg that successfully designed, developed and launched the all new “Venture13” technology centre in Cobourg (which includes a hardware MakerLab developed in partnership with Northumberland Makers).
Outside of the world of startups, John maintains a serious passion for back-country hiking. In 2015, he undertook an epic unsupported continuous traverse of Iceland and has plans for a similar expedition to the Caucasus in 2019 (keeping in shape with the 100 Mile Wilderness in Maine and other trails this year).
