Some observations

Partners rock.
A strong showing from startups representing quite a few of our partner accelerators (UOIT Brilliant, the Impact Centre, OCAD imagination Catalyst and more) mean you will want to make sure you are with us on pitch night to cheer on your champion (click here to get your tickets now). You can even cast a vote on September 13th for the all new $2,500 Audience Choice Best Pitch Award, sponsored by CCO Productions.

Crossing the digital divide.
From a 60:40 digital/physical split in the application phase, we emerged with 75% hardware/software to 25% Saas in the official Top 8. 4 out of our 5 past N100 winners are physical technology entrepreneurs (hardware/software).

Hometown heroes.
2 out of 8 Semi-Finalists have local roots: AudienceGPS (BigClic, Jon Hill, Cobourg), and Convictional Commerce (Chris Grouchy, Brighton).

#WomenInTech.
32% of our applicants and 25% of the Semi Finalists were women-led startups (with women in Founder/CxO roles), better than the 17% average reported by TechCrunch in 2017.

All in.
All of the 44 applications we received stand as a testament to the entrepreneurial shift taking place in Canada. We thank you for putting your names and companies forward for consideration and we wish you every continued success in your entrepreneurial journey.

And now, N100 Pitch School is about to begin. The Top 8 will be welcomed to Venture13 on September 6th, 2018, for an intensive pitch workshop and simulation with Northumberland CFDC and our N100 Advisors: Rich McAloney, Leo Mui, Alison Burgess, Joe Miller, Tony Orsi and Astrum Nanji, followed by networking, archery, axe throwing and pizza at Headwaters Farm.

The N100 Pitch Contest takes place on Thursday, September 13th, 2018 before a live audience. Four judges from the N100 Power Panel, chaired by Port Hope based Angel investor Paul Godin will decide who makes it to the Board Room for full investment presentations to Northumberland CFDC’s Board of Directors, with the winner(s) to be announced this Fall.

We’ll see everyone back at Venture13 on September 13th for Pitch Night!

John Hayden, for the N100 Team.
